NBI electrode for nuclear fusion reactor

NBI electrode for nuclear fusion reactor

Product details

A NBI (neutral beam injection) electrode made of oxygen-free copper for the JAEA Japan Atomic Energy Agency.

Production details

MTC built the electrode of the NBI device, which is a vitally important part of the NBI. Electrical voltage of several KV will be applied to this product and during usage high temperatures are being generated. To eliminate that heat, the electrode is internally equipped with several water channels for cooling thus having a high heat removal capacity. The largest NBI electrode MTC has built until now is 515mm×230mm×6mm. We manufactured this product by using and combining various bonding methods like vacuum brazing and torch brazing using vacuum furnaces and hot press equipment, as well as composite joining techniques such as EBW (electron beam welding).
