A STARS conductor that can operate stably has been operated.
News Release
Regarding the research that was press released by NIFS on August 17th, titled "Development of
high-temperature superconducting and high-current conductors to accelerate the realization and
deployment of fusion reactors - applicable to future fusion reactors and next-generation fusion
experimental equipment", the test specimen used in the experiment was a product manufactured by MTC, and
we were able to contribute to this research.
At the request of Professor Nagato Yanagi of NIFS, we began prototyping this high-temperature
superconducting coil, the STARS conductor (Stack Tapes Assembled in Rigid Structure), several years ago,
and finally achieved a practical and stable STARS conductor. It is expected to be used in a wide range
of fields, not just the nuclear fusion field.
