Our "Mercury Target Vessel No. 10" installed at J-PARC is now operating smoothly.
The mercury target vessel No. 10 manufactured by Metal Technology Co. Ltd. was installed at
the Japan Proton Accelerator Research Complex (J-PARC), which is operated by the Japan Atomic Energy
Agency (JAEA), in November 2020. J-PARC started at 600kW beam operation after the installation of the
mercury target vessel, and has been operating smoothly for 106 days at 600kW and 10 days at 700kW (as of
14 April), supplying neutrons to many neutron experimental lines and supporting cutting-edge
research.
In July 2021 we plan to run the unit up to the world's highest operation of 1MW.
